short documentary, 19min
Going away for three years. Three years and a day to be precise.
Away from friends, family and home. An ancient tradition that only a handful of tradesmen still follow today; the journeyman’s travel.
We take to the road to accompany travelling apprentices in different phases of their journey and are witnesses to a life that in this modern day and age, hardly anyone feels brave enough to lead.

Embarking on a solo journey around the globe is an adventure in itself, but doing it on a hand-built, 10-foot long, fully rigid chopper takes a unique kind of courage and determination..
"Why Would You Do It On That?" captures a moment in the incredible odyssey of Charlie Weisel, a rider who defies convention at every turn.
I caught up with Charlie on the open road to delve into his extraordinary life, the challenges of his journey, and the one question everyone asks, “Why would you do it on that?”

“Skateboarding doesn’t make you a skateboarder: not being able to stop skateboarding makes you a skateboarder.”
- Lance Mountain
What is it, that keeps skateboarders trying a trick over and over again - ignoring the pain and frustration after several slams?
"First Love" tries to show outsiders of the skateboard community what the fascination of this special sport is all about. But also addresses the die-hard skateboarders all around the world.
